- Triangle shape enables each section to lock in automatically, no need to search for the button
- Fluorescent green tip section is highly visible & has a foam core
- Sections can be removed or added to make the stick the preferred length
- Ergonomic design gives the operator a better gripping surface for better control
- All sections have a smooth glossy surface for routine cleaning & waxing
- All sections are 100% tested per OSHA & ASTM F-711
- Each hot stick that leaves HASTINGS has passed a dielectric test with an electrical gradient of 100KV per foot in accordance with industry standards such as ASTM, OSHA and IEC
Care and Cleaning:
- A daily inspection and a thorough wiping (wipes 10-188) of the stick to remove dust and other contaminants is still recommended to maintain the dielectric strength of the tool
- Multiple Sticks: If a job involves several hot sticks, a tarp or a tool rack is recommended (6707 or 6708)
- Field Cleaning: A silicone treated wiping cloth (10-090) will do the job of wiping down the stick
- By doing this you are also adhering to OSHA Rule 1926.951:Sub-Part V: Tools & Protective Equipment
- Complete Cleaning: All Purpose Cleaner (10-169) can be used on hot sticks, and it is also excellent for cleaning bucket and booms, rigid cover-up, and your rubber goods
- The All Purpose Cleaner is already pre-mixed for your use
- This cleaner should be applied with a clean, soft cloth or a sponge
- After Cleaning: fiber glass wax (10-091) should be used to restore and retain the surface gloss on your stick
- A glossy surface is required on all hot line tools in the event they are used under wet or rainy conditions
- A glossy surface makes moisture “bead up” and eliminates a potential blanket effect on the surface
- Waxing should only be done on a clean stick in good condition
- Refinishing: In the case of of nicks, scratches, scrapes, and exposure to the elements, general wiping off and cleaning may not be enough.
- NOTE: Unless the tool is mechanically damaged, this is not a reason to discard it for a new one
- A refinishing kit can restore the finish to new condition with little effort
- Epoxy Refinishing Kit is a two-part system (parts A and B) that is mixed in two equal parts
- Available in “clear” (10-100 (pint) or 10-110 (quarts)) for hot line tools and “white” (10-101 (pint) or 10-111 (quarts)) for refinishing buckets and booms that are also white
- The kit comes complete with sand-paper, the two-part mixture, and thinner
